Enterprises

Earth Communities (EC) Pty Ltd operates a wide range of commercial enterprises, which deliver goods and services to members – as well as the greater society – which generate revenues for EC Pty Ltd.

We now operate several enterprises: Earth’s Kitchen (café/restaurant), Wilsons Organics (organic grocer/café), Gardens on Earth  (gardening service) and we have our own farm in Meadows, SA.

The enterprises are operated under the same structure as traditional commercial businesses and each has a board consisting of people from within the enterprise as well as the EC Enterprise Committee. Many of the people working within the enterprises are member shareholders (and therefore the joint owners of all EC Pty Ltd enterprises). Funding is provided by EC Pty Ltd with goods and services made available to members and shareholders via Earth Supply Agreements

As all EC Pty Ltd members are genuine owners in the enterprises (and all future intended investments) we organise ourselves from the floor upwards around a shared collective philosophy and value system so have a genuinely inclusive democratic corporate culture.

Our ownership structure and collective understandings mean we naturally function very efficiently. The way we run our enterprises leads to remarkable internal innovations, flexible and agile learning methods, natural and effortless quality control, loyal community support and a myriad of other effective business outcomes.

These in turn produce a harmoniously balanced living and working environment built on a shared enthusiasm and vision with clearly agreed objectives that are fully understood and supported by all, because all have been involved in their development and evolution.

The effectiveness of our enterprises is a welcome by-product of the way we innately operate; efficiencies don’t need to be consciously sought. Our organic, cooperative way of working naturally leads to exceptional profitability and efficacy.

Enterprise profits lend themselves to quality growth in member skills and interests – as well as future ventures – which is why investment in EC Pty Ltd is not only financially sound, but also a crucial part of the community-based, resource economy Planet Earth requires.
